Video Friday: Tut, Tut, Tut

The Tomb of Tutankhamun - A journey through the photographic data

The recording by a team of Factum Arte in the tomb of Tutankhamun in 2009 resulted in high resolution 3D recording of the surfaces of the tomb and high resolution photographic recording. Nearly 10 000 photographs were stitched together to produce very large image files for all the walls. This video takes you through this data and shows details of the walls.
Photographic data recorded by Piers Wardle and Gregoire Dupond in the tomb, under the direction of Adam Lowe.

The Discovery of KING TUT at 5th Avenue -- The Golden Mask of Tutankhamun

“This is a masterpiece that has captured my heart. Gazing at the young king’s face, I truly believe that there is nothing in the world greater than this mask; it looks so alive. About 24lbs in weight and made of gold and semiprecious stones, a beautiful, wide, bejewelled collar adorns his chest and magical inscriptions run around the shoulders and the back. These are taken from Chapter 151b of the Book of the Dead and are meant to help protect the young king. Tutankamun is seen wearing the nemes-headdress, with a uraeus and vulture at his forehead, and his ears are pierced for earrings.” Zahi Hawass/
